The Spaces
The Terrace
Under a warm wood ceiling, a long polished concrete table looks the length of the pool toward the ruin. It seats twenty. The light arrives from the west in the late afternoon and warms the terrace toward evening. This is where dinners happen.
The Courtyard and Pool
The pool wraps a fragment of original masonry, lit from below after dark. Hammocks hang between the old walls. The canopy of a pepino, a mango, and a 100-year-old oak closes overhead. Standing, with the terrace alongside, the courtyard holds fifty.
The Lounge (Coming Soon)
A vaulted front room off the entrance, cool and quiet, laid out for movement and rest. Mats on the floor in the morning. A massage table in the afternoon. A place to read when the sun is at its highest. The indoor space that a retreat in Mérida needs.
The Home
Three bedrooms, the kitchen with its six-meter beamed ceiling and fresco fragments high on the wall, the living room and its collection, the arched steel-frame doors that open the whole ground floor to the garden. For a gathering, the house is the backdrop. For a retreat, it is home.
The Occasions
Welcome Dinner
The night before a wedding held elsewhere in Mérida, or the night after. Twenty at the terrace table, a private chef, the pool lit behind you. The one dinner of the weekend everyone remembers.
Reception
Drinks and small plates around the pool from late afternoon into the evening. Up to fifty standing. The courtyard does the rest.
Private Dinner
A birthday, an anniversary, a table for people who have known each other for a long time. Yucatecan cuisine, or whatever the evening calls for, cooked on-site. Up to twenty seated.
Retreat
Yoga, wellness, writing, a small creative workshop. Morning practice in the courtyard, afternoons in the lounge or the pool, evenings on the terrace. Up to sixteen, with the house booked for the group.
Filming and Photography
By Day
Natural light moves through every room from the patios; the courtyard is shaded until late morning, and gold from four, and the ruin and pool carry a night scene on their own. Day rates for stills and film, with crew limits set to protect the house. A short location agreement covers access, hours, and use of the images. Tell us what you are shooting, and we will tell you what the house can do.
On Camera
A 16th-century casona with original fresco, a masonry ruin in the pool, white terrazzo and pasta tile, and three living trees, half a block from La Mejorada Park. The house was featured on ArchDaily and nominated for Building of the Year 2024. It photographs the way it feels.
Our Process
Bookings
All gatherings are arranged directly with us, not through booking platforms. Send an inquiry with your date, the occasion, and the number of guests. We respond within 24 hours. Private chef, bar service, in-home spa, transfers for your guests, flowers, and music are all arranged through your Casa Mejorada concierge.
Capacity
Seated dinner on the terrace, up to twenty. Standing reception in the courtyard and pool, up to fifty. Retreat, up to sixteen. Filming, by arrangement. The house is not available for parties, DJs, or anything over fifty.
Fees
A venue fee by occasion and duration, separate from the nightly rate. Staffing, set-up, and cleaning are arranged through us and included in your quote. A refundable deposit holds the date.
Hours and the House
Gatherings end by 10pm out of respect for the neighborhood, with no amplified music after dark. Retreats and shoots begin as early as first light. Gatherings pair with a stay: the host, or their guests, stay in the house.
